MOONSTONE ACADEMY

Moonstone Parents & Friends is the school’s Parent Teacher Association and a registered charity. Since our founding nearly 40 years ago, we’ve raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the school. All the money we raise is used to purchase essential educational resources that the government doesn’t fund, such as minibuses, sports equipment, and resources for music, art, drama, and learning. All Moonstone students benefit from our efforts.

Organised and run entirely by volunteers, our activities fall into four main areas:

  • We assist school staff in organizing events, including sports, concerts, plays, and parent evenings, typically by providing refreshments and sometimes a bar.
  • Our hospitality creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and meeting new people is always enjoyable!
  • We also organize and run our own events for the students, such as: A glowing and winter-themed Junior Party , An exciting and fun-filled summery Football Tournament
  • We organize our own ‘community’ events for parents, families, and friends, featuring activities like quizzes, entertainment, and a vibrant summer fair, among others. These events not only help raise funds but also provide an opportunity for parents to connect socially, something that’s challenging due to Latymer’s large catchment area.
  • Our year-round initiatives bring people together, including our Christmas tree shop, school art calendar, a rewarding lottery, raffles, auctions, sales of pre-loved school uniforms, exclusive West End theatre ticket offers, and more. We’re also constantly exploring new ideas.

As a Moonstone parent, you can easily support these efforts – simply by attending, enjoying the event, participating, or making a purchase. However, if you’d like to commit to volunteering, we’d be even more thrilled. We’re always in need of new hands and ideas, and we’re a very welcoming group.

Beyond fundraising, our goal is to enhance community life by bringing together staff, families, and friends of the school. And even if you didn’t know it, you’re already a member of Moonstone Parents & Friends. (The clue is in the name…).

Whether it’s connecting, offering help, participating, or simply enjoying, any way you choose to support us will contribute to enriching our students’ education and strengthening the community for everyone’s benefit. If you’d like to get involved, please email us at the address below or message us on Classlist. We’d be excited to meet you.

CATERING AT SCHOOL EVENTS

Throughout the year, the funds we raise at school events support important educational initiatives across the school that wouldn’t be possible otherwise. Every cup of tea or glass of wine contributes to this cause. We greatly appreciate any help you can offer at these events, in whatever way works for you. Flora leads the refreshment team, supported by enthusiastic parents who enjoy connecting with others. We’re always looking for more volunteers, so please reach out to mpf@moonstone.education if you’d like to assist.

UPCOMING MPF EVENTS

To boost our fundraising efforts, we organize MPF events. Like school events, these often include refreshments, a bar, and tasty food. Cooks play a key role in these and other initiatives—please lend a hand if you can! If you’re interested in helping, we’d love to hear from you. Contact mpf@moonstone.education.

SUMMER FEST

A heartfelt thank you to all the children, parents, and friends of Moonstone for making the event a success. After a long time wait, we finally held our secoend summer fair in July 2024. With your incredible support, we raised more than £15,000, a feat that wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and participation of MPF. On that day we have take a initiative of feeding more than 2000 poor kid. Let’s aim to make the 2025 summer fair an even greater accomplishment.

2024 PRE-WINTER RAFFLE AND TRIP BUS APPEAL

The Moonstone Academy was in need of a new trip bus to provide essential transportation for sports events, school trips, and outdoor education activities in North Wales. To help raise the necessary funds, we organized a raffle.

The Grand Prize Draw took place at the school on Thursday, 25th November 2024, and it was an outstanding success, raising thousands of pounds. On behalf of the raffle team (Harry, Bittu, Peter, Tom, Alisa, and Jasmine), we extend our heartfelt thanks to the parents and friends of Moonstone Academy, as well as the external supporters, restaurants, shops, and organizations who generously donated such fantastic prizes.

The lucky winners of the raffle were:

Sophia Davis, Michael Carter, Olivia Martinez, Ethan King, Isabella Lee, Benjamin Young, Grace Walker, Noah Green, Lily Adams, James Roberts, Charlotte Perez, Daniel Evans, Ava Mitchell, William Taylor, Mia Harris, Alexander White, Ella Moore, Samuel Robinson, Chloe Nelson, Lucas Cooper, and Harper King. Congratulations to all of them !

The top three prizes were won by Lily Adams, Alexander White and Ava Mitchell.

Additionally, our partners kindly supported the Pre-Winter Raffle and trip bus appeal by contributing funds for each of their advertising boards displayed by Moonstone families or friends. The MPF and school are incredibly grateful for their generosity.

300 CLUB

The 300 Club is a community lottery organized by MPF, helping to fund essential educational resources and other school-related expenses not covered by local authority funding. It’s straightforward—and true to its name…

A total of 300 numbers are available, each priced at just £12.00 per year, and are held by members of our parent and friend community. Around half of the proceeds are retained by MPF to support the school, while the rest is returned to subscribers through a monthly Prize Draw. In June and December, there are special jackpot prizes of £500. Throughout the remaining ten months, two prizes of £75 and £25 are awarded each month.

Having been continuously run for over two decades, our 300 Club enjoys strong participation. However, with students graduating and parent members leaving, there are always available spots.

Participating in this lottery is a simple and effective way to support the school, while also giving you twelve opportunities to win. It’s easy to join—just set up an annual Standing Order for one or more numbers. For just £12.00 per year, your number will be entered into the draw for twelve consecutive months!
